ANIMATION: MAKE YOUR OWN
Developmental Activation: self-expression, curiosity, observation

Animation brings ART to life! Children will learn animation basics by manipulating figures to create moving images. Instructors will assist children to tell funny stories, recount a tall tale with a made-up hero, or share about their lives through animation.

Each ANIMATION activity will include elements of the following:

Introduction to animation:
Children will learn about the basics of animation, including what it is and how it works. They will also learn about some of the famous animators who have helped shape the art form.

Drawing for animation:
Children will learn how to draw the basic shapes and forms that are used in animation. They will also learn how to create simple animations using pencil and paper.

Character design:
Children will learn how to create their own unique characters for animation. They will learn how to design and draw their characters, as well as how to give them personalities and emotions.

Background design:
Children will learn how to create the environments and backgrounds that their characters will inhabit. They will learn how to use color, composition, and perspective to create compelling and believable settings for their animations.

Storytelling for animation:
Children will learn the basics of storytelling and how it applies to animation. They will learn how to develop a simple story and how to use their characters and backgrounds to bring that story to life.

The goal of these activities is to introduce young children to the exciting world of animation and to give them the skills and knowledge they need to create their own animations.
